Verstappen tops final practice, McLaren in misery

Max Verstappen led the session and finished first in the timing charts before the qualifying session. Behind him was teammate Sergio Perez in the closing stages, but Charles Leclerc improved his laptime in the final seconds and claimed the second spot in the charts, leaving the Mexican in P3.

The AlphaTauri duo of Nyck de Vries and Yuki Tsunoda seemed to struggle around the Miami circuit, as both cars of the Red Bull sister team found themselves at the very back of the pack for most of the session. That wasn't the case for the Alpine of Pierre Gasly, though, who finished the session in P6, with his teammate Esteban Ocon a place ahead in P5.

Mercedes are also struggling through the circuit - the duo of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton were heard complaining about the car's speed in the straights, as well as difficulties getting through the corners. They finished P10 and P13 respectively.

McLaren, who had a great weekend in Azerbaijan seemed to be nowhere near a similar performance around Miami, as they finished P18 and p19 in the final practice of the day, through their qualifying form remains to be seen, although not much can be done in the few hours before the showdown.
